Waffle

Six crossing words · fifteen swaps · every letter already there

Green is locked, yellow is close. Ten perfect swaps solve any board.

All the right letters, all in the wrong places. Swap them around the waffle-shaped grid until six words lock into place — with enough swaps left over to feel smug.

How to play Waffle

  1. Study the grid. Six five-letter words cross in a waffle shape. The letters are all present, just scrambled.
  2. Drag to swap two letters. Green tiles are correct and lock in place; yellow means the letter belongs in that row or column, but elsewhere.
  3. Solve all six words in 15 swaps. Every grid has a 10-swap perfect solution — spare swaps become your star rating.

The trick nobody tells you

Don't chase greens — chase double yellows. A swap that turns two yellows into two greens is the only way to reach five stars, so before touching anything, scan for pairs of misplaced letters that belong in each other's spots. The corners are where those pairs usually hide, because corner letters serve two words at once.

Waffle is the calm one in our collection. When you're warmed up, the daily Globle mystery country raises the stakes, and Dordle doubles them.

FAQs about Waffle

How many swaps do you get in Waffle?
Fifteen swaps to solve a grid that can always be completed in ten — every swap you save is a star.
What is a perfect Waffle score?
Five stars: solving the grid in exactly ten swaps, the theoretical minimum. It happens, but not often.
Is Waffle free to play?
Yes — free in your browser on this page, daily puzzle plus unlimited mode, no download.
Is Waffle easier than Wordle?
It's gentler: all the letters are already on the board, so it's a rearrangement puzzle rather than a guessing game. Getting five stars is another story.
